Following a comprehensive search facilitated by a renowned executive recruitment firm that commenced in February, the HKSPC today announced that Subrina Chow (CV attached) has been appointed Director of the Society with effect from 6 May 2022.
Subrina was identified by the Society in January, and began volunteering while awaiting government approval to take on a role with the HKSPC soon after. Once government approval was obtained, she was appointed Senior Deputy Director (Change Management) on 9 March, and subsequently Acting Director on 15 March when the former Director stepped down from the role.
“The few months I’ve had with the Society have been some of the most challenging yet meaningful times of my work life. Rebuilding the Children’s Residential Home (CRH) service is a complex but absolutely necessary task. The hard work and devotion of HKSPC colleagues as well as the CRH Reform Project team brought to us by the Council of Non-profit Making Organization for Pre-primary Education (CNOPE), and the thought that our diligent and professional work will help grow the children under our care, spur me on. We must stay on course to serve the community at large, be it through residential or day child care, pre-primary education, social work and professional rehabilitation services, or parental education and support,” remarked Subrina Chow.
“The Society is delighted to have Subrina as our new Director, in which role she will continue to focus on change management and improvement in the many services we operate throughout Hong Kong. We are working hard to ensure that she has the resources to enable these changes, moving towards best practice in CRH, where we are enhancing our training, monitoring, checks and balances, and staffing levels. Under Subrina’s leadership the Society will continue its efforts to implement the reforms suggested by the Independent Review Committee that we released in late January. In our 96th year, the Society as a whole continues to do all it can to restore the community’s trust in the very many good things we do,” said Robin Hammond, Chairman of the Society’s volunteer Executive Committee.
