Privacy Policy

In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, HKSPC has adopted the following policies to safeguard the Website user’s personal information and is committed to protecting its confidentiality. HKSPC will limit the collection and use of personal information to the purpose directly related to the functions or activities stated during the collection. Without the Website user’s prior consent, HKSPC will not disclose any personal information to third parties.

Basic Statement

HKSPC collects personal information from the Website user on a voluntary basis. Personal information may include name, title, company, address, phone number, email address, etc. The personal information collected will only be used for carrying out the functions or activities stated on the information collection form on the Website. HKSPC will not sell, rent or transmit personal information to third parties without the Website user’s consent, unless it is:

• required by laws; or
• for the receipt of promotional materials from HKSPC or the third parties named on the information collection form as you have agreed

Personal Data of Donor

When making a payment by credit card or through the HKSPC online donation platform, your personal information will be encrypted during transmission. Your credit card information will only be collected by the relevant bank and the credit card company via their payment gateway for the purpose of processing the payment. Transactions of payments will not be produced in the HKSPC’s system and the bank concerned will not disclose any of the credit card information to HKSPC.

Other personal information, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, will be encrypted during transmission to HKSPC for the purpose of recording the donation and sending the official donation receipt to the donor. Subject to your prior consent, you may receive promotional materials and update information about our work from HKSPC. If at any time you do not wish to receive such information, please email or write to HKSPC to cancel the consent. The cancellation request should be addressed to our Data Protection Officer by email at email address dpo@hkspc.org.

User Information

When you visit this Website, our service provider makes a record of your visit. This record shows your domain name, server address, IP address, operating system, browser type and the webpages you have visited. Our service provider may also obtain information about your general internet usage to help us improve the Website by using “cookies” which are stored in your computer. Information gathered by using cookies may include the date and time of your visits, the pages viewed, time spent at the Website, and the web sites you visited immediately before and after our Website. The service provider only discloses to HKSPC aggregate information about the visitors. We will only use the information for preparing statistical purposes.

Correct, Update and Delete

If you would like to correct, update or remove your personal information, please contact our access, Data Protection Officer via dpo@hkspc.org.

Storage and Access

All personal information that Website user provides to HKSPC will be securely stored in the system with restricted access. HKSPC reserves the right to appoint agents, who are bound by strict confidentiality requirements, to handle the data on its behalf. Only designated employees or agents are permitted to handle the data. Employees or agents who violate HKSPC’s privacy requirements are subject to disciplinary or legal actions.

Option not to Receive Further Mailings

If you do not wish to receive further update information, donation appeal or promotion materials by email or mail, please write to us or send an email with subject “unsubscribe” to our Corporate Communications Department detailed as follow by providing your email or mailing address to be unsubscribed.
